Greetings! My name is Char Summers and I used to be categorized as a “search angel” in training from 1994 – 1996 and now I have grown with years of experience and having reunited literally hundreds of families, into a professional Research and Reunion Specialist. I specialize in Wisconsin cases, specifically Birth Family seeking adoptee’s, as this is where I live and where I learned.
Wet Behind the Ears to Pro Searcher
Of course in 1994 I had no idea what I was doing. I jumped on the internet and searched every keyword I could think of that would connect me with someone that could help in my very first Wisconsin adoption case. This led me to Mary Weilding, the founder of I.C.A.R.E. Independent Confidential Adoption Research Efforts of Wisconsin.
Mary was a birth mother herself that found her daughter after years of searching. She released a book titled, “In Search of An Angel” about her experience and started the I.C.A.R.E. website. She was the co-founder, teaming up with an Adoptee that she had helped find her family.
Mary and I became very good friends and she became my mentor. She was an excellent researcher and solved hundreds and hundreds of Wisconsin cases. I became her personal assistant researcher when she fell ill and until her passing. Unfortunately, the I.C.A.R.E. website has become a dumping ground for spam and internet attackers. Those that have listed on her site, I encourage you to re-register your information on this site.
Mary’s memory lives strong in my heart and I will forever be grateful to the trust and the time she invested in me so that I could become the researcher I am today.
This website and all it stands for is dedicated to her memory, all the families she helped and all the answers she revealed to those who had so many questions.
Here are a few of my clients that I helped in the past few years.
I started out only covering cases in Wisconsin, the state I was trained for and specialize in today. However, once Facebook was introduced to my life, things took a rapid charge across the United States to families that needed me.
Christina finds her birth father and meets more family than she could imagine! She sent me a very heart warming thank you and I am so happy I could help.
Joyce not only found out who her birth mother is, but also finds and meets her siblings soon after! We discovered her biological family through a 3rd Cousin DNA match on Ancestry.com!
