I have often said how important it is for an adoptee to obtain their non id information and last weeks “solved case” expresses why!
A woman was referred to me about her search case to locate a birth mother. The non id information seemed very vague with little information to go on. However, she also did complete a DNA family finder test thru ancestry.com, in which I asked permission to view her results.
With the combined information in front of me and comparing the notes with the dates, locations and timeline of a family tree she matched to a 2nd cousin on ancestry.com, I was able to put the pieces together and identify the birth mother! Yes, the non id was indeed vague, but it did show the birth mother had 2 sisters and that the family was from “out of state“, leading me to view surround states to the birth location. Along with a few other little details, a complete match happened!
So remember the SMALLEST DETAILS can be the BIGGEST CLUES
